About the Center
Who we are
The Florida Transportation Technology Transfer (Tē) Center is an umbrella organization housing various programs that provide training and technical assistance to Florida's transportation and public works professionals. Programs include
- Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP)
- Florida Transportation Safety Training Program (FTSTP)
- Product Demonstration Showcase Program (PDS)
- Workforce Training Development
- Computer Based Training (CBT) Development
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) provides technology transfer assistance for local road and bridge agencies through Florida’s LTAPCenter. LTAP is widely recognized in Florida as the Tē Program. LTAP is patterned after the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s very successful local Extension Service program.
Currently there are 51 similarly supported LTAP/Tē Centers serving every state and Puerto Rico. Seven additional Centers serve the Native American tribal population, bringing the national total to 58 Centers.
The LTAP/Tē Program aims to achieve two objectives: 1) to establish a system to improve the exchange of information between local agencies, FDOT, FHWA, private transportation entities and universities; and 2) encourage implementation of effective procedures and technology at the local level.
What we do
These are fundamental responsibilities of our Florida LTAP/Tē Center:

- We are the local agency link between state, national, and international pending, current, and completed research.
- We develop, participate in, and coordinate the distribution of a variety of transportation safety related programs and products.
- We develop, encourage, and implement strategies to create professional relationships that will enhance our service to local agencies.
- We compile and maintain a membership database for newsletter and technical material distribution.

How we do it
Florida Tē Center personnel understand that every contact is important and strive to satisfy every request in a straightforward, supportive manner by going beyond what may be normally expected, to seek every available solution to the situation.
The LTAP/Tē program is a service program. To be of real value to our constituents and sponsors, we strive every day to earn a reputation for prompt, efficient, and trustworthy support from each and every professional contact.
