This course is approved by the Florida Department of Transportation, and is based on official rules for Florida escorts found in the Florida Administrative Code (FAC) Chapter 14-26.012. It is one-third of the Florida qualification required for those individuals responsible for warning the motoring public of oversize loads and assisting oversize load drivers on Florida highways.
Course times are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. See agenda for more details. Please bring photo ID to be allowed to take the exam.
Every driver escorting an oversize load permitted by Fla. Dept. of Transportation (FDOT) must be one of the following (per Florida Administrative Code 14-26.012):
1. A law enforcement officer having jurisdiction in the State of Florida traveling in an enforcement vehicle
2. an escort qualified by another state (must have proof of qualification)
3. an escort qualified by the State of Florida; meeting the following requirements –
- be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license
- must have successfully completed the FDOT Pilot/Escort Flagging training course. Escort re-qualification is required every four years.
- must possess a valid Commercial Driver License class A, B, or C; OR have successfully completed the National Safety Council 8-hour Defensive Driving course * now online at http://www.nscddconline.com/

Payment in advance is required to be registered for the course. Trainees must pay by either credit card, check or money order. Checks or money orders must be made payable to University of Florida, and should reference the specific class session the payment is for. Include the trainee(s) full name, the class name, and start date of their class session and any additional information you believe useful (a printed copy of the registration confirmation or copy of invoice is best).

Minimum class session size is 15 trainees. If the minimum is not met prior to ten (10) calendar days before the start of the class session, the class session will be cancelled. See T2 Cancellation Policy.
Course Completion: Trainees are allowed two (2) hours to complete the written test. The test is closed book, and the trainee must score at least 80% correct to successfully complete course. Tests are collected and sent to the Florida T2 Center to be graded. Students must also demonstrate proper flagging procedures as shown in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices to successfully complete this course.
Certificates and Wallet Cards Certificates and wallet cards are valid for four (4) years from the ending date of the class session. No certificates or wallet cards will be available at the class session. A letter indicating test results will be sent to each trainee within two (2) weeks of the ending date of the class session. A certificate and wallet card will accompany the letter for those who have paid their course fee and have successfully completed the course. No test results will be given via phone. Temporary cards will no longer be available after March 31, 2008.
